Punjab Kings (PBKS) delivered a commanding performance on Tuesday (April 1), defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by eight wickets to secure their second win in IPL 2025. Chasing a target of 172 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, PBKS comfortably reached the finish line in the 17th over.
Prabhsimran Singh’s Blistering Knock Sets the Tone
PBKS had a shaky start as Priyansh Arya fell for just eight runs in the third over. However, Prabhsimran Singh ensured LSG couldn’t capitalize, blasting a whirlwind half-century to put his team in control. He reached his fifty in just 23 balls and stitched together an 84-run partnership with skipper Shreyas Iyer for the second wicket.

Digvesh Rathi finally provided LSG a breakthrough in the 11th over, dismissing Prabhsimran for a brilliant 69 off 34 balls. But PBKS remained untroubled, as Iyer and Nehal Wadhera forged an unbeaten 67-run stand to seal the victory. Iyer brought up his fifty in style with a six, finishing unbeaten on 52, while Wadhera contributed 43* to complete the chase with ease.
LSG Struggle to 171/7 After Early Collapse
Earlier in the match, LSG, after being asked to bat first, struggled to build momentum and managed 171/7. Their innings started poorly, losing three key wickets—Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Rishabh Pant—inside the powerplay, leaving them reeling at 35/3.
A 54-run partnership between Nicholas Pooran (44) and Ayush Badoni (41) provided some stability before Pooran fell. Abdul Samad added quick runs, scoring 27 off 12 balls, helping LSG post a competitive total. For PBKS, Arshdeep Singh starred with the ball, claiming three wickets and playing a crucial role in restricting LSG.
