Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awards 2024: Manu Bhaker, D Gukesh And Others To Get Felicitated By India’s Highest Sports Honour

The Government of India have announced the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awards. From Manu Bhaker to D Gukesh, all these sporting personalities will be felicitated by President of India in a ceremony on January 17.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports have announced the list of Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awards on January 2, 2025. Ace Indian shooter Manu Bhaker, Men’s Hockey Team skipper Harmanpreet Singh, Chess Grand Master D Gukesh and Para Athlete Praveen Kumar will be conferred with India’s highest sports honour. All these awardees will be felicitated by the President of India at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in an award ceremony on January 17. The detailed list is mentioned below:

The year 2024 was a memorable one for India in the field of sports wherein sportspersons such as Manu Bhaker, D Gukesh, Harmanpreet Singh and others made the country proud. Bhaker ended up winning double medals at the Paris Olympics 2024 and became the first Indian female shooter to win a medal at the Olympics. On the other hand, Harmanpreet Singh led India men’s hockey team won the bronze medal at the Paris Olympic Games.

D Gukes led the Indian men’s chess team which won the Chess Olympiad 2024 whereas he also became the youngest ever World Chess Champion towards the end of the year. Praveen Kumar won a gold medal in high jump at the Paris Paralympics 2024.
