The Delhi Capitals registered their first win of the IPL 2025 season in a nail biting competition against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday. Ashutosh Sharma’s monsterous innings of 66 runs in 31 balls led the team to victory. Axar Patel, the skipper for the Delhi Capitals in the post match interview Justified his actions and decisions of giving over to Tristan Stubbs and expressed his belief in Vipraj Nigam’s potential as a player.
“Get used to it now. It’s going to be like this only under my captaincy, Things will be up and down a little. Now that we have won, people won’t complain about why I gave that over to Stubbs. Don’t remember the last time I saw something like this. The way they played in the first six overs, we felt we gave a few too many early on. We dropped some catches as well. It looked like they could score 240, but we pulled things back. We know how much potential he has (Vipraj Nigam).” Patel said.

Axar Patel’s Contribution
Akshar Patel‘s contribution with both bat and the ball was very crucial. He was very handy with the ball. He bowled three overs and spared just 18 runs but could not claim any wickets. His contribution with the ball restricted the LSG batters in his three over spell from making an unachievable total. With the bat Patel’s contribution of 22 runs in just 11 balls was significant. His innings ultimately came to an end when Digvesh Rathi dismissed him.

Turnaround Knock Under Pressure
Delhi faced complete peril at 65/5 when they started hunting down the target points. Ashutosh made significant differences in the match as an Impact Player by demolishing Lucknow’s unreliable bowling with his strong batting ability. The seventh-wicket collaborative effort between Ashutosh Along and Vipraj Nigam yielded 55 runs for Delhi Capitals. During the innings the rest of his teammates dropped out but Ashutosh didn’t surrender instead scoring the winning run with a strong six.
