The national team situation in Pakistan continues to deteriorate after a bad white-ball season in New Zealand. The star players Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam have initiated plans to meet with Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi in what seems to be a crucial negotiation. A PCB official asserts that Rizwan shows deep frustration about his unclear position within the team and the process of playing junior players as leader Salman Agha tests new players. Rizwan intends to confront PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in a meeting to discuss his leadership demands along with his existing grievances.
Rizwan Seeks Clarity From PCB Over T20I Omission, Voices Frustration Over Lack Of Communication
“Rizwan is due to meet the PCB chairman as soon as he gets an opportunity to seek clarity on his axing from the T20I side,” the sources close to the Pakistan captain told Telecom Asia Sport.
Rizwan became the white-ball captain in October last year. He was rested for the shorter format in Zimbabwe but led the team in the T20I series against South Africa.
“I can’t say anything about T20, it’s not my job, just like here (in ODIs), I do not have all the things in my hands. Neither we knew nor were we consulted (about T20I axing). It was their decision and they took that decision and we accepted that as we have done before,” Rizwan had said after Pakistan’s 3-0 whitewash in New Zealand.

Rizwan Clashes With Coach Over Team Selection, May Step Down As ODI Captain if Denied Authority
Sources indicated that Rizwan clashed with head coach Aaqib Javed over the selection of the playing eleven for the first two matches, as he advocated for including five regular bowlers.
Pakistan fielded four regular bowlers, relying on part-timers Salman Agha and Irfan Khan to cover the remaining 10 overs. This strategy backfired, as the two part-timers collectively conceded 118 runs.”Rizwan will seek more power in the selection of the playing eleven for the match, and there is a possibility that if not given full power, then he might resign from ODI captaincy,” the source said.
The PCB has initiated talks with foreign trainers who may replace interim coach Aaqib Javed in addition to considering past Pakistani players for head coaching positions. The Pakistan Super League will occupy all players until May 18 before they play five T20Is against Bangladesh.
