Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s injury woes seem to stay put as the Indian Express has reported that the team’s skipper, Rajat Patidar seems to be out for the rest of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season due to a finger injury. Patidar had suffered the injury in RCB’s match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chinnaswamy and missed several games, were it not for the forced pause of IPL 2025. However, reports published by the Indian Express have shown that RCB captain Kohli will not be present for the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 17th and might just miss out on the remaining fixtures of IPL 2025. In his absence, Jitesh Sharma might be one to lead the team.
“I was very grateful for the opportunity they were bestowing on me, that I was going to captain RCB, and it’s a big thing for me and my family. As a player and as a captain, I was thinking about the right combination, as Devdutt and Rajat were unavailable, and replacing them would have been a big responsibility for sure,” said Jitesh on RCB’s ‘Break Message’ video.

Playoffs Qualification Scenario
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have three games left to play, and they have to win one match and receive 18 points to book a ticket in the top four. With two or more victories, they will stand a good chance in reaching the top two. If they lose all three matches, they will have to rely upon the other team’s result and NRR, as they will get stuck at 16 points.
