Pacer Varun Aaron Announces Retirement From All Forms Of Cricket

Aaron made his international debut for India in 2011 against England, representing the country in 9 Tests and 9 ODIs, picking up 18 and 11 wickets respectively.

Former Indian fast bowler Varun Aaron has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, bringing an end to a career spanning over 15 years. The Jharkhand-born speedster, known for his express pace and ability to consistently bowl above 145 kmph, made the announcement through his social media accounts.

Aaron, who made his international debut for India in 2011 against England, represented the country in 9 Tests and 9 ODIs, picking up 18 and 11 wickets respectively. His career highlights include a memorable spell against England at Lord’s in 2014 and consistently troubling top batsmen with his raw pace.

At the domestic level, Aaron was a stalwart for Jharkhand, taking 153 wickets in 47 first-class matches. He also made his mark in the Indian Premier League, representing teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kings XI Punjab, and Rajasthan Royals, where he was known for bowling some of the fastest deliveries in the tournament’s history.

Despite showing immense promise, Aaron’s career was unfortunately hampered by recurring injuries, particularly back problems that forced him to modify his bowling action. However, he remained one of India’s genuine fast bowlers during his prime, capable of hitting the 150 kmph mark.
