RNew Zealand beat Pakistan by 78 runs. The maiden ODI century from Glenn Phillips helped in taking New Zealand to a massive 330 run score in 50 overs. A clinical display from the Kiwis as they registerd a comprehensive win in the tri-series opener. Glenn Phillips was awarded man of the match. Rachin Ravindra also hurt his eye. While he was in the field he missed the ball under the lights and took a brutal hit near the eyes. Blood was visible, but he was escorted off the field immediately.

”We had a tough little middle period, Pakistani bowlers bowled well. The way Bracewell came in and kicked on was great and I tried to continue the momentum and followed his lead. I love my bowling. New Zealand’s Batting
Both Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell Smashed 50s which also edited New Zealand innings. Glenn Phillips was hitting hard as a middle order batter scored a scintillating century. Pakistan conceded 84 runs in just 5 overs with Shaheen Afridi’s 49th over conceding 25 runs itself. That is where they lost the match. Harris Rauf was certainly missed during the match as he suffered a side strain and could not bowl in the death overs which took a toll on Pakistan.
Where Did Pakistan Fell Short?
Babar Azam fell early, but Fakhar Zaman took the responsibilities of building an innings on himself. He played some eye catching strokes and rose to a half century. Ghulam seemed to struggle for rhythm. While his dismissal lead Pakistan to lose another couple of wickets in quick succession. Aga and Tahir tried to stabilise the innings with their 50 runs partnership, but the run rate kept on growing higher and higher, and both the batters fell under pressure.
