The first press conference for Karachi Kings captain David Warner turned into controversy when he faced questions about Indian trolling at the start of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 facing Multan Sultans. The unexpected remark made by a Pakistani reporter about “Indian trolling” shocked Warner during his first press conference as the Karachi Kings captain.
“This is the first I’ve heard of it. From my perspective, I want to play cricket. There’s an opportunity to come to PSL. My international calendar didn’t allow me to come to PSL due to the timings. Now, I want to compete, captain the Karachi Kings, and hopefully we are able to win the trophy,” Warner was quoted as saying.

A Pakistani reporter interviewed Warner following his PSL acquisition because the Australian cricketer failed to secure a spot in the IPL 2025 auction about the possible negative reactions from Indian supporters. The reporter indicated that numerous Indians had mocked Warner for his decision to play in the PSL while requesting how he handled the online criticism directed his way. When asked about this criticism during an interview Warner expressed a state of shock as this was a complete surprise to him.
David Warner’s New Phase
After thriving for many years with the IPL Warner decided to join PSL because he stands as the leader among overseas batters in IPL history after scoring 6,565 runs across 184 innings. Warner has been a part of both Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad during his time in the IPL competition. Warner distinguished himself by directing SRH to win their inaugural IPL championship in 2016.
Warner took over the captaincy of Delhi Capitals during IPL 2023 when Rishabh Pant needed recovery time due to his severe car accident. The cricket club chose to release Warner prior to the IPL 2025 player bidding auction.
