Ravi Shastri Tears Apart Team India Management Over Mohammed Shami’s Injury, Says ‘Was Very Surprised…’

Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri slammed the Indian team setup over the management of Mohammed Shami's injury and stated that he should have been there in Australia for Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The lack of experience in the Indian pace attack was clearly seen during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. No bowler other than Jasprit Bumrah could cause trouble for the Australian batters and proved to be a nightmare throughout the series. Bumrah picked up 32 wickets from five games and was named as Player of the Series. While Jasprit Bumrah showcased brilliant line and length, the other bowlers got hit for plenty of runs as they could bowl in one channel to disrupt the batters.

Ravi Shastri Slams Team India Management

Other than this, many former Indian cricketers wanted Mohammed Shami to be selected for the tour and one such as former Indian coach Ravi Shastri. While speaking to ICC, Shastri stated that Shami should have been in India and slammed Team India’s management of his injury. He said, “To be honest, I was very surprised with the communication going on in the media as to what exactly happened to Mohammed Shami. Where is he when it comes to recovery? He’s been sitting in the NCA for I don’t know how long. Why can’t proper communication come out on where he stands? A player of his ability, I would have brought him to Australia.”
