Ravichandran Ashwin Reacts To His Father’s ‘Humiliation’ Comment After International Retirement | See Post

Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin addressed his father's claims of facing 'humiliation' in dressing room and shared a tweet on 'X'.

Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin announced a sudden retirement from international cricket after the IND vs AUS 3rd Test played in Brisbane. Ashwin ended his international career with 765 wickets whereas he was also the second most successful bowler for India in Tests with 537 Test wickets followed by six centuries with the bat. The latter has a brilliant sense of the game and is an excellent cricketing mind which certainly makes him different from his other budding players. However, at the age of 38 and current form, Ashwin could have played a couple of years of more cricket which is basically the reason behind sudden goodbye to international cricket.

Ravichandran, Ashwin’s father in an interview with News 18 had suspected humiliation to his behind his retirement from international cricket. Ravichandran stated that ace Indian all-rounder’s decision shocked him and his family members. However, he added that it was totally Ashwin’s decision and he will not interfere in it.

Ravichandran Ashwin Responds To Father’s Comments On Facing ‘Humiliation’

Ravichandran Ashwin’s father said, “I too came to know (about his retirement) in the last minute, actually. Retiring is his wish and desire, I cannot interfere in that, but the way in which he gave that, there could be many reasons. Only Ashwin knows, maybe humiliation. No doubt about it (emotional moment for the family) because he was on the field for 14-15 years. The sudden change, retirement, gave us really kind of a shock.”

Ravichandran Ashwin, who is pretty much active on social media replied to a normal user on social media who mentioned about his father’s statement regarding the alleged ‘humiliation’ that Ashwin faced in the dressing room. In his reply, Ashwin stated that his father isn’t trained well enough to face the media and he requested to forgive him and leave him alone. The tweet read, “My dad isn’t media trained, dey father enna da ithelaam. I never thought you would follow this rich tradition of “dad statements”. Request you all to forgive him and leave him alone.”

Ravichandran Ashwin will now be seen playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2025.
