Ruben Amorim Backs His Decision To Drop Marcus Rashford Following Manchester United Loss To Tottenham Hotspurs In Carabao Cup

Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim backed his decision to bench Marcus Rashford during Carabao Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United suffered a 3-4 loss against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup 2024-25 match played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The Ruben Amorim was knocked out of the Carabao Cup following the loss against Spurs. United showcased a brilliant late fightback, but the Spurs proved to be more determined in the deciding minutes of the match and ended up winning the contest. Ahead of the match, the discussions were dominated with the exclusion of Marcus Rashford from Man United’s playing XI and was later termed as the reason behind their loss.

Ruben Amorim Backs Decision To Bench Marcus Rashford

However, Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has defended the decision to bench Marcus Rashford. Amorim insisted that the decision wasn’t based on the strained relationship with the player whereas depended on the training and the tactics. He said after the match, “I feel that I do the right thing for the team, so it’s never a mistake. We have to make a selection. Sometimes, like in the game, you feel that some of the guys go inside the pitch and change a little bit of the game. Sometimes it is like that.”

Manchester United is currently undergoing a transition phase and Ruben Amorim is trying out his full bench to create a good team combination.
