A young batter for India, Shubman Gill, would hold the reins of Test captaincy. India selectors have designated Shubman Gill as the most likely successor to captain in Test cricket. According to reports, Rishabh Pant is tipped to become India’s vice-captain in Tests, and BCCI wants to ensure Jasprit Bumrah is not burdened with additional captaincy duties.

According to a report by the Dainik Jagran, Gill met Agarkar and Gambhir, discussing the future plans with the two most significant members of the Indian think tank. The report also claims that the BCCI will formally appoint Gill as the Test skipper through a press conference, which will likely be held on either May 23 or 24.
Gill contacted Agarkar and Gambhir
Shubman Gill recently met with BCCI chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar and Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir ahead of upcoming talks on his possible takeover of the Test captaincy role. Gill (25) has played 32 Test matches for India for commons 1493 runs, averaging 35.06. He has hit five Test centuries, enshrining his status in the Indian Test side next to batter Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara after the BCCI elected to shuffle senior batsmen out.
Expectedly, the BCCI can reveal the India squad in the near future. Virat Kohli is Under the Lens by the BCCI. It has been indicated that BCCI has contacted Virat Kohli, and the batter has confirmed internally that he wishes to retire from Test cricket. Without the loss of Rohit Sharma, the BCCI is targeting its most experienced middle order batsman for the England Tests. Playing the five match series without Kohli may mean India’s top order can be tested without much experience at the crease.
