The highest chase in IPL history unfolded when Sunrisers Hyderabad easily secured 246 runs against Punjab Kings thanks to a record-breaking 171-run partnership at the start between Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head which produced a devastating loss for PBKS during their 2025 IPL encounter.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad showed their perfect opening combination while finally finding success this season. Abhishek along with Head expressed intense power from their opening balls against PBKS’ bowling lineup. Abhishek Sharma hit a 19-ball fifty and the two batters scored their century partnership in less than eight overs. The southpaw exceeded his 40-ball century mark to finish his innings with 135 runs from 49 deliveries becoming the first Indian batter to reach this scoring milestone in IPL history.

Travis Head provided tremendous assistance to the innings by blasting 66 runs in 37 balls while together the team delivered 171 runs from 75 balls. The batting base remained strong despite Head leaving just before Abhishek scored his century. SRH delivered a comprehensive failure of the PBKS bowlers by reaching the total before the allocated time expired as they mocked the challenging 246-run target.
The batting lineup of Punjab Kings demonstrated their power during their first batting choice. As captain Shreyas Iyer scored a 22-ball fifty which allowed his team to pass 150 while needing only 12 overs to reach that total.
