Supreme Court accepts BCCI amendments, Sourav Ganguly, Jay Shah to continue on top posts for 3 more years

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India has passed an order regarding the tenure of the BCCI president and secretary. The order has allow the amendments in the constitution that will allow Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah to continue on their posts for another three years.

In the bench comprised of Justice Chandrachud and Hima Kohli, SC refused to intervene in the matters of BCCI and said they should do what they find right.

“Indian cricket is successful not because of judicial review but because of its administration,” said the Justice.

BCCI had proposed the abolition of cooling-off period that would enable their current office bearers to continue their tenure. Ganguly-Shah have completed six years at their respective state cricket associations and the present rules required them to step down from it.

However, the acceptance of BCCI amendments by Supreme Court will bring revolutionary change in the organistion.
