Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran has etched his name into the record books by smashing 177 runs in 146 balls in the Champions Trophy 2025 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. His century celebration was unique in his own way. He was seen with the Namaste gesture after hitting his 6th ODI century against England. He smashed 12 fours and 6 sixes in his innings. He also broke multiple records in his magnificent innings against the English team.

“It’s not easy to come back to international cricket, I have come back to international cricket after 7 months but I hadn’t played ODI cricket since the last 1 year. The expectations were there on me and I played well. I put myelf under pressure and I enjoyed this innings. I tried to take my time, I worked on my basics, I don’t want to think anything extra. I try to be disciplined.” Zadran said.

Highest individual scores in the Champions Trophy
He broke a recent record of England’s Ben Duckett for the highest score in Champions Trophy history. He smashed 165 runs against Australia earlier in a match of this Champions Trophy edition. Duckett’s innings led the team to a massive total of 351 runs but this did not forbid Australia to breach the the milestone. In response, Australia posed an incredible performance, especially with the aid of Josh Inglis and Alex Carrey.
First Asian batter to score 150 runs in Champions Trophy
Apart from him, only England’s Ben Duckett has managed to get past the 150-run mark. He scored 165 runs against Australia earlier this season. Zadran scored 177 runs against England in 146 balls. Cricketing legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly also could not manage to breach this landmark.

First Afghanistan batter to score a Hundred in WC & CT
Ibrahim Zadran becomes the first Afghanistan batter to score a century at both the World Cup and the Champions Trophy. He hit the World Cup century against Australia in the 2023 World Cup which shows his prowess as a batter who can perform against Tier 1 teams of the Cricket fraternity.
