Apple India has recorded a 60% jump in iPhone production from its Indian supply chains with a turnover to Rs 1.89 lakh Crore during the financial year ended March 31, 2025 as per Industry data. Out of this total output, Apple exported Rs 1.5 lakh crore worth iPhone from India during 2024-25 minister of Electronics and information technology.
Apple’s production in India is expected to expand further with the Us-China Tariff war breaking out. As a result of the tariff war Apple’s exports from China would take a hit. Since Duties are much lower on India-Made smartphones, Apple has tried to take advantage by further expanding its production base in the country.
India’s smartphone exports crossed a staggering Rs 1.75 lakh crore in 11 months of 2024-25- This constitutes a 54% jump over the corresponding figure for the same period 2023-24, according to the India Cellular and electronics association.
Export Statistics
The stats further indicated that around 70% of the exports were contributed by Apple’s Tamil Nadu based Foxconn supply chain. Exports from the Foxconn factory registered an over 40% jump over the same period of the previous financial year.
Beyond the above numbers, 2% of the exports came from iPhone vendor Tata Electronics, which has acquired the Wistron smartphone manufacturing factory in Karnataka. Another 12% of the export consignments came from pegatron facilities in Tamil Nadu. Tata Electronics has acquired a stake of about 60% in the pegatron facility towards the end of January. With the acquisition of the two Taiwanese companie , the Tata Group has also emerged as a major producer of iPhones in the country.
Beyond that the South Korean Tech Giant contributed to about 2% of the total smartphone experts from India.
Government Linked Incentive Scheme
India electronics goods exports, led by smartphones, have been accelerating in recent years promoted by the government’s production linked Incentive Scheme. Such schemes have been able to attract foreign tech giants such as Apple and its suppliers to produce in India- these would further help the nation grow its overall presence in iphone production as Chinese productions have been halted after the US sanctions.

The PLI scheme for electronics manufacturing has succeeded in attracting a cumulative investment to the Tune of Rs 10,213 crore till December 2024. The Scheme has been able to lead to a creation of over 1.37 lakh direct jobs and boost the country’s exports.
