Meta has shared its resolute intentions regarding the development of the new deluxe version of its Popular Smart Glasses. As per a recent report by Mark Gruman, it has become apparent that the brand might be planning to provide the glasses with Hand Gesture Control and a screen for displaying photos and applications.
The glasses are being developed under the code name Hyper Nova, and as per the recent reports, it’s possible that the glasses might retail at a price of over $1000, for the basic variant and may rise to $1300 and $1400 for the special variants. All of these are alleged inputs indicating towards the development of the glasses; no confirmation has been established by Meta.
The brand has been seemingly motivated by the surprise spurt in the sales of its current gen Ray Ban Meta glasses that start at $299. Meta will continue to sell the current model and leverage their popularity to further push the higher end models that it has been developing. Beyond Meta Amazon is also seemingly developing wearable glasses with smart features.
Meta’s Long Term Plans
Meta seems to be planning for a long term product stint as it has also started working on a second gen product that has been codenamed the Hyper Nova 2. One of the major difference the brand plans to include in the new glasses would be the inclusion of the Binocular Display System. This new innovation would lead to two screens for both the eyes. The new glasses are being planned to launch in 2027.
Apart from the second gen model that is right now under development, the Hypernova 1 would become pricier thanks to its monocular panel, that would be located at the lower right quadrant of the right lens. This new technology would allow the user to witness the information when displayed right in front of the wearer’s right eye and would become much clearer when the user is looking downwards.
New Features
Meta has been planning to upgrade the internal camera of the glasses and would equip the glasses with a 12 mp camera on the current models on par with the iPhone 11 from 2019. While many fans has been waiting for the new product, Meta is known for cancelling new products in their final stages, just 18 months ago that the brand had axed the launch of a variant of Ray Ban-Meta’s without a camera module.
The brand might soon launch smart glasses, that would be based on designs from Oakley. The new glasses would be optimized for athletic use and the company has already started the testing in public environments. Beyond the Hyper Nova the brand is also working on AR glasses internally dubbed as Orian and Artemis internally as their development monikers.
