Google has shared that early testers of the new tool are already asking much longer questions than usual, often two to three times the length of standard searches. People are using it for a variety of purposes, such as planning trips, comparing different products, and understanding complex tasks or how-to guides.

Google has now launched its experimental AI mode in India. The new feature offers a more advanced and interactive search experience. As per a blog post, Google said early testers of AI Mode are asking much longer queries, 2-3 times longer than traditional searches. As part of “new shopping experiences” with over 50 billion product listings from global retailers, Google had launched the feature in the US in May. It allowed for impulse buys via the search page. Further, in the last two years, Google has introduced more AI features into its search engine, like AI summaries.

Stating that the AI Mode is built right into Search, Hema Budaraju, Vice President, Product Management, Search, wrote in the post, “AI Mode brings together advanced model capabilities with Google’s best-in-class information systems, and it’s built right into Search. You can not only access high-quality web content, but also tap into fresh, real-time sources like the Knowledge Graph, info about the real world, and shopping data for billions of products.”

Voice-Visual Queries

AI Mode supports not only text-based searches but also voice and visual queries, making use of the widespread popularity of Google Lens in India. Users can speak their questions or upload images directly into the app. For instance, someone can take a photo of a plant and ask how to care for it, and the tool will provide a step-by-step response along with helpful links.
