A 17-second Instagram reel posted by a woman who appeals to be a constable in Bihar has been trending, causing controversy over the professionalism and discipline to which members of law enforcement are not supposed to stray. The clip, filmed within a police station compound, has the constable, her uniform badge says “Aarti” who is lip-syncing the line going-viral, “Hum hain Bihari, thoda limit mein rahiye ga…” The police station cannot be determined with absolute certainty, but the background is strongly suggestive of being shot on official grounds and during work hours.
After the reel instantly went viral on various social media platforms, an in-house inquiry has been initiated to track the recent upload of the constable and identify the location and time at which the video was captured. Although no official comment has been issued yet, the incident has again sparked controversy regarding online conduct among police officers in uniform.
Online Outrage and Public Reaction
The clip has been roundly criticized by netizens, some of whom tweeted at Bihar Police’s official handles, blaming the standard of discipline in the force. Some were even more vitriolic, laying the blame for the dip in standards at the feet of reservation policy and calling the constable a “reservation product.” Others ridiculed her with statements such as “reelbaz police,” denouncing the trend of more and more people wearing uniforms as props for social media posts.
One user said, “Is the uniform a permit to pursue online fame now? This is turning into a trend because no tough action is being initiated.”

Strict Guidelines Already in Place
This is not the first instance where a police reel has been placed in the dock. The Bihar Police Headquarters have already issued strict guidelines to curb the usage of social media by policemen that Recording or streaming reels or live sessions in uniform, particularly in official places, is not allowed and Promoting oneself, commercial material, or political posts are not allowed.
In spite of these, successive occurrences such as the one at hand point to insufficient strict enforcement. The viral reel has again brought into focus the increasing problem of decorum and responsibility among police officers in the age of the internet.
The department will need to take disciplinary action, however, if the constable is found to be in breach of the code. The incident places into focus the requirement for more vigilant policing and greater awareness of social media morality within the force.
