New Delhi: Indian team has defeated New Zealand by eight wickets in the ongoing U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup which is being played at Senwes Sports Park of Potchefstroom in South Africa.

Shefali Verma led-side Indian team has become the first one to march into the final of inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup.

Indian U19 captain Shafali Verma won the toss and opted to bowl against New Zealand U19 women in the semifinal of the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023.

Parshavi Chopra set the stage with three wickets to restrict Kiwis to 107/9. In a reply, opener Shweta Sehrawat slammed an unbeaten 45-ball 61 to chase down 108 in 14.2 overs.

India will now meet England or Australia in the final.

Parshvi Chopra shines with ball

Parshvi Chopra, the best bowler of the Indian U-19 team, bowled strongly in the semi-finals and spoiled the party of the New Zealand batters. Parshvi Chopra took 3 important wickets in the match due to which, she was also awarded as the player of the match. Parshvi continued to perform brilliantly throughout the tournament. Earlier, she had taken 4 wickets in the match against Sri Lanka and caught everyone’s eye.

Shweta anchors India’s inning

Indian opener Shweta Sehrawat scored her brilliant half century against the New Zealand. This is her third half-century in the tournament. With the help of 10 boundaries, she scored terrific 61 runs off 45 balls unbeaten.
