Karina Sharma
Born in 1965 in Ohio, USA, Sunita Williams grew up dreaming big. Her father was an Indian immigrant, and her mother was of Slovenian descent.
She joined the U.S. Navy, trained as a pilot, and became a test pilot before transitioning to NASA as an astronaut candidate in 1998.
After rigorous training, Sunita was selected for her first space mission in 2006 aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery.

She spent 195 days aboard the ISS, setting a record for the longest spaceflight by a woman at that time.

Sunita has conducted seven spacewalks, spending over 50 hours outside the ISS—the most by a female astronaut.
