A British Kashmiri professor at London’s University of Westminster claimed that her Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) has been cancelled by the Indian authorities. The British Kashmiri woman is a professor of International Relations.

Nitasha claimed that her citizenship has been cancelled

According to PTI, Nitasha Kaul claimed that her citizenship has been cancelled due to alleged “Anti-India activities.” She posted the details of the communication from the Indian authorities on social media. The government communication accused her of being motivated by “malice and complete disregard for history.”

Nitasha claimed that she was from India in 2024

In 2024, Nitasha Kaul had claimed that she was deported from India immediately after her arrival at the Bengaluru airport. Kaul had said that she was invited by the Karnataka government for a two-day conclave on constitutional rights.

“Denied entry to #India for speaking on democratic & constitutional values. I was invited to a conference as esteemed delegate by Govt of #Karnataka (Congress-ruled state) but Centre refused me entry. All my documents were valid & current (UK passport & OCI),” Kaul had posted on X on February 25.

MEA commented over denial of entry to Nitasha Kaul

The Ministry of External Affairs had said that the entry of foreign nationals into the country is a sovereign decision regarding the denial of entry to Nitasha Kaul.

MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, said, “This particular UK national (Nitasha Kaul) came to India on February 22. As you know, the entry of foreign nationals into our country is a sovereign decision.”
