Did India Really Strike Pakistan’s Secret Nuclear Site At Kirana? Social Media Abuzz With US Emergency Aircraft Landing To Probe Radiation Leak

Social media is flooded with claims that the IAF strikes in Pakistan also targeted a nuclear storage facility at Kirana Hills. The rumour got triggered after the satellite imagery showed damage to Mushaf airbase in Sargodha- this is believed to be linked to the underground nuclear storage sites beneath the Kirana Hills.

Amid rising India-Pakistan tensions, reports- both credible and false- emerged, including one alleging an Indian strike on Pakistan’s nuclear facility at Kirana Hills. However, Air Marshal A.K. Bharti has dismissed claims that Indian forces targeted a Pakistani nuclear site, and social media remains abuzz. Posts suggest that the U.S. nuclear safety support aircraft- the B350 AMS- was deployed to assess potential radioactive activity in the area. It is claimed that a US team landed in Pakistan to investigate radioactive levels in the Kirana Hills region.

According to reports, Pakistan has twelve significant air bases, which are separated into three commands: the Northern, Central, and Southern. Moreover, there are several non-flying stations

Pakistan has many military bases that are not used for flying aircraft. These non-flying stations are mainly used for support activities such as maintenance, logistics, and administration. In a recent press briefing held on May 12, it was revealed that India’s strikes had targeted several of these bases across the country.

Unverified reports suggest that India reportedly hit Rafiqui Airbase in Shorkot, Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, Murid in Chakwal, Rahimyar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian, as well as radar sites at Pasrur and Sialkot.

Social Media Abuzz

Following the Sargodha damage, posts erupted online claiming that this could have led to any further destruction or leakage in the nuclear storage sites believed to be underneath the Kirana Hills. Soon after these claims began spreading on social media, many internet users and defence-tracking pages in India suggested that Pakistan might have asked the United States to help stop the conflict. They believed this happened because a nuclear site in Pakistan may have been hit, and the country feared more attacks on its nuclear facilities. Some foreign media reports underscore that Pakistan was especially worried about possible strikes on its nuclear command system.

The New York Times report said that Pakistan is extremely afraid that its top nuclear leadership or control system could be destroyed. The missile strike on Nur Khan airbase might have been seen as a warning from India, suggesting that it can target and take out Pakistan’s nuclear command structure if needed.

India Denied Any Attack On Pakistan’s Nuclear Facilities

India on Monday dismissed rumours of a strike at Pakistan’s alleged nuclear facility at Kirana Hills, saying that “we have not hit, whatever there is,” following social media speculation of such an attack. Responding to media queries, Air Marshal AK Bharti said, “We have not hit Kirana Hills, whatever is there,” adding sarcastically, “Thank you for telling us that Kirana Hills houses some nuclear installation — we did not know about it.”Air Marshal AK Bharti made these remarks during a joint press briefing with senior military officials on Monday.

The B-350 AMS Aircraft

According to the EurAsian report, the Beechcraft Super King Air 350 (B350) is a special aircraft used by the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration and the Department of Energy to ensure nuclear safety. It plays a key role in the Aerial Measuring System (AMS) program, which is designed to monitor radiation and respond to nuclear emergencies. The aircraft is equipped with sensors that can detect and measure radioactive contamination in the air and on the ground. It is also used to inspect nuclear facilities to make sure that nuclear materials are secure and have not been compromised.

By mapping radiation and identifying potential risks, such as fallout from damaged nuclear sites, the B350 helps plan and coordinate emergency responses. It also carries out missions like environmental surveys related to nuclear activity. Because of its role in nuclear safety, reports of the B350’s presence in Pakistan led to speculation that it may have been sent there in response to a possible nuclear-related incident.
