According to the former president, three possibly foreign-based apps on the telephone of Thomas Matthew Crooks, a Pennsylvania man who fired a shot and grazed Trump’s ear during a rally in July, could not be accessed by the FBI.

Trump said that Ryan Wesley Routh, the alleged wannabe assassin caught after a shootout with the US Secret Service at his Florida golf club, had six cell phones that the FBI also could not unlock.

Trump Urges Apple To Unlock Phones Of His Attackers

Trump told his supporters at a rally in North Carolina Wednesday, that Apple must unlock the foreign apps but also unlock the six phones from the second attacker.

For years, Apple has rejected law enforcement’s demands that it develop a backdoor in its phone system that would enable an authority to access data without a user’s password, saying hackers might exploit it. As president, Trump criticized Apple for failing to unlock the iPhone of a Royal Saudi Air Force lieutenant who is accused of killing three sailors in 2021.

One day after the Office of the Director of National Intelligence briefed President Donald Trump on intelligence indicating that Iran is seeking to assassinate him, Trump asked for assistance from Apple.
The company has not responded yet.
