Russian foreign ministry declared the bombing against their consulate facility in Marseille on Monday confirming all characteristics of terrorist activity.
As quoted by Times of India, TASS quoted Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova mentioned that “The explosions on the territory of the Russian Consulate General in Marseille have all the hallmarks of a terrorist attack.”
Zakharova also mentioned, “We demand (from France) exhaustive and prompt measures to investigate, as well as steps to strengthen the security of Russian foreign missions.”
Officials stated that another device was launched but it did not explode so experts had to send in a bomb disposal expert.
As per media reports, the authorities mentioned that an explosive device went off outside the Russian Consulate, coinciding with the 3rd anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The suspect escaped after the attack as law enforcement officers pursued an official inquiry into the event according to an unnamed officer bound by national police regulations.
Official investigators have not released any information about the assailant nor his suspected reasons for carrying out this assault. Russia insists that France conduct a complete investigation regarding the blast incidents that occurred at its Marseille consulate.
