Foreign Minister of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Sunday condemned the United States for attacks on country’s nuclear sites. He termed it a “grave violation” of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT. The Minister stressed that assault on Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations will have everlasting consequences. He highlighted that the US, despite being a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has broken the law.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Cites UN Charter Violations
Araghchi wrote on X, “The United States, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, has committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT by attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations.”
He further stated that this is an alarming situation and every member of the United Nations (UN) should take note of it as an extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behaviour.
“The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences. Each and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behaviour,” Araghchi added.
Maintaining Iran’s position, Araghchi firmly stated that Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest and people in accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions.
“In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people,” Araghchi said.

US Strikes Iran’s Nuclear Strikes
Notably, US President Donald Trump on Sunday, declared that Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated, following the military strikes.
He stated, “Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated.”
Trump described the American military as “great American patriots” and congratulated them. He said, “I want to congratulate the great American patriots who flew those magnificent machines tonight… Hopefully, we will no longer need their services and this capacity. I hope that so.”
