Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday (July 6, 2025) announced the formation of his new political party – the ‘America Party’. The move comes amid an escalating feud between him and US President Donald Trump, with the latter calling the idea “ridiculous. Wasting no time, Trump launched a scathing attack and dismissed Musk’s new party. Meanwhile, he doubled down on his belief that “third parties never worked.”
Responding to questions, the US President said, “It is ridiculous to start a third party. We have had tremendous success with the Republican Party. It has always been a two-party system. Starting a third party adds to the confusion. He can have fun with it, but I think it is ridiculous.” On the situation, it is fair to say that the former DOGE Head’s dramatic move could significantly disrupt and reshape the American political landscape.

Taking to his ‘Truth Social’ platform on X, Donald Trump sharply criticised Musk’s new political venture, stating, “I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely “off the rails,” essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks. He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States – The System seems not designed for them.”
Dismissing the initiative, he further added, “The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS, and we have enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats, who have lost their confidence and their minds! Republicans, on the other hand, are a smooth running “machine,” that just passed the biggest Bill of its kind in the History of our Country.”
Trump continued, “It is a Great Bill but, unfortunately for Elon, it eliminates the ridiculous Electric Vehicle (EV) Mandate, which would have forced everyone to buy an Electric Car in a short period of time. I have been strongly opposed to that from the very beginning. People are now allowed to buy whatever they want – Gasoline Powered, Hybrids (which are doing very well), or New Technologies as they come about – No more EV Mandate. I have campaigned on this for two years, and, quite honestly, when Elon gave me his total and unquestioned Endorsement, I asked him whether or not he knew that I was going to terminate the EV Mandate – It was in every speech I made, and in every conversation I had. He said he had no problems with that – I was very surprised!”
As Musk makes a bold and unprecedented step into politics with his newly launched ‘American Party’, the world is set to witness a clash between two of the most influential and polarizing figures. While Trump reiterates that Musk is having fun, the move could bring a new wave that US voters were waiting for.
