A massive 7.4-magnitude earthquake hit Argentina and the coastal region of southern Chile on May 2, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

A major Tsunami warning was also issued. The authorities asked the citizens to evacuate and move to safer locations.
Gabriel Boric, President of Chile, posted on X, “We call for evacuation of the coastline throughout the Magallanes region. At this time, our duty is to be prepared and heed the authorities. Regional and national COGRID (Cogrid of the Nationwide Risk Management System) is underway. All state resources are available.”
