The person who shot at former US President Donald Trump has been identified. Agents from the FBI, AFT, and Secret Service are investigating the incident. The FBI confirmed that they identified the suspect using his voter ID. The suspect, named Thomas Crook, is reportedly from Trump’s party.
Photos and videos of the suspect are going viral on social media. While the FBI has not confirmed that Thomas Crook is the attacker, he is the person who was killed by snipers at Trump’s rally. The motive for the attack on Trump is still unclear. Investigating agencies are gathering more information about Thomas Crook.
The FBI identified Thomas, who attacked Trump, using his voter ID card. Records show that Thomas is a member of the Republican Party, which has nominated Trump as its presidential candidate. He also made a $15 (₹1,250) donation to the party.
The investigation reveals that Thomas is just 20 years old and lives near Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. He has links to radical groups, and a video has emerged where he expresses hatred for Trump and Republicans.
The FBI has confirmed that the body found on the roof of a building near the rally venue belongs to Thomas Crook. An AR-15 semi-automatic rifle was found next to the body, and it was used to fire 5 to 8 shots at Trump, although only one bullet grazed his ear. The police are investigating how Thomas obtained the rifle.
The FBI reports that Thomas Crook lives in the Bethel Park neighborhood on Pittsburgh’s South Side, about an hour from the rally site in Butler, on the North Side. Pennsylvania voter records show Thomas Matthew Crook as a registered Republican, with the same address and birthdate. However, the records do not specify when his voter ID card was issued.
George Bivens, Deputy Commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police, stated in a press briefing that after Thomas targeted Trump, he fired shots in other directions, resulting in the death of an elderly man. Thomas was on the roof of a building 120 meters away from Trump’s stage. Snipers shot him from 200 meters away, hitting him directly in the head.
