Turkey is engaging nations to sell its advanced weaponry and stealth fighter jets to countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan. Both nations do not share cordial relations with India. Now, India may apparently reply to Turkey as its bete noire, Greece, has shown interest in purchasing Pinaka LRM—Long Range Multi-Barrel Rocket System. If the deal takes place, it will have geopolitical repercussions.
Geostratigika magazine quoted defense experts who believe that Pinaka LRM would be a good deal for Greece.
Notably, Pinaka LRM was developed by India, and it is a multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) that has different variants. These variants are Pinaka MKI (40 km), Pinaka MKI (60km), Pinaka ER (90 km), and Pinaka LR (120 km). Experts say if Greece buys Pinaka LRM from India, it will enhance its capacity to face Turkish forces in the border region and Aegean islands.
The experts said that Greece has a good option to buy Pinaka instead of HIMRAS of the United States. It may be possible that Greek companies like EAM and INTRACOM Defense would be ready for the joint production of Pinaka LRM. India and Greece hold joint naval exercises and both countries have good relations. If these deals become a reality, it would strengthen their relations.
