विकर्ण आव्यूह:
कोई भी वर्ग आव्यूह जिसमें सभी घटक शून्य होते हैं सिवाय प्रमुख विकर्ण के, विकर्ण आव्यूह कहलाता है।
अर्थात् A = [aij]n × n एक विकर्ण आव्यूह है यदि aij = 0 के लिए i ,j के बराबर नहीं है।
तत्समक आव्यूह:
एक विकर्ण आव्यूह जिसमें सभी प्रमुख विकर्ण घटक 1 के बराबर होते हैं, एक तत्समक आव्यूह कहलाता है। इसे एकक आव्यूह के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, जबकि n कोटि के एक तत्समक आव्यूह को I या In द्वारा निरूपित किया जाता है।
