Calculation :
Let the total number of voters be 100x.
Voters not casting their vote = 20x
No of valid votes = 80x - 40
No of votes of winner = 42x
No of votes of looser = 38x - 40
Difference of voted between winner and looser = 42x - (38x - 40) = 112
⇒ 4x + 40 = 112
⇒ 4x = 72
⇒ x = 18
So, Number of registered voters = 18 × 100 = 1800
∴ The correct answer is Rs.1800.
