  • Ayrton shunt also known as the Universal shunt, is a device used in electrical metering. It consists of an auxiliary coil connected in parallel with the current coil of the meter.
  •  It eliminates the possibility of the meter movement being in the circuit without any shunt resistance. May be used with a wide range of meter movements.
