By applying partial fraction method,

4z2 – 2z = A (z – 2)2 + B (z – 1) (z – 2) + C (z – 1)

At z = 1, A = 2

At z = 2, C = 12

At z = 0, 4 A + 2 B – C = 0

⇒ 8 + 2B – 12 = 0 ⇒ B = 2
