Question
Download Solution PDFTwo trains, one of length 185 m and the other of length 175 m, are running in opposite directions on parallel tracks, the speeds of the first and second are 80 km/h and 64 km/h respectively. How much time will they take to cross each other?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Lengths of two trains = 185 m and 175 m
Speeds of two trains = 80 km/h and 64 km/h
Formulas used:
Relative speed (Opposite direction) = Speed1 + Speed2
Time = Distance/Relative Speed
Calculation:
Distance to be covered by two trains = Length of two trains
⇒ 185 m + 175 m = 360 m
⇒ 360/ 144× 5/18
⇒ 360/40 [1 hour = 3600 seconds, 1 km = 1000 m]
⇒ 9
∴ The required time taken by the trains to cross each other is 9 seconds.
