Download Solution PDFWhat will be the cost price of the goods if a shopkeeper allows a discount of 10% on the marked price of Rs. 100 and gains 8%(rounded off to the nearest integer)?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFCalculations:
Given, Marked price = Rs. 100
Gain percentage = 8%
Discount percentage = 10%
We know that,
∴ Selling price = 100 × (1 – 10/100)
= 90
We also know that,
∴ 90 = C.P. × (1 + 8/100)
⇒ C.P = 90 × 100/108
Since C.P. is Rs.1000/12 = Rs.83.33 ~ 83
∴ The cost price is Rs. 83.
