The RRB ALP Syllabus and Exam Pattern is released by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). Recently, RRB has announced 9970 Vacancies for the ALP Recruitment 2025. Candidates who are planning to appear for the RRB ALP 2025 Examination must be familiar with the RRB ALP Syllabus 2025 for each stage, to know the subject-wise topics which they should prepare for the exam. RRB ALP Syllabus 2025
The Railway Recruitment Board has released the detailed RRB ALP Curriculum for each stage of the selection process. Candidates must refer to the detailed syllabus for each stage of the selection process and plan their preparation accordingly. RRB ALP CBT 1 Syllabus 2025
The RRB ALP CBT 1 includes Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness & Current Affairs. RRB ALP CBT 2 Syllabus 2025
The RRB ALP CBT 2 syllabus is divided into two parts: Part A and Part B. It mainly covers three subjects in Part A—Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and General Science, along with Basic Science and Engineering. Part B focuses on the trade-specific knowledge of the candidate, which is based on the relevant ITI or diploma discipline.
RRB ALP CBT 2 Syllabus for Part A
The RRB ALP CBT 2 Syllabus for Part A covers four key subjects that assess a candidate's general and technical abilities. Part A tests the candidate’s general awareness, reasoning ability, and technical understanding. The detailed subject-wise syllabus for both parts is given in given below to help candidates plan their preparation better.
(A) Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.
(B) General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and decision making, Similarities and differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement—Arguments and Assumptions etc.
(C) Basic Science and Engineering: The broad topics that are covered under this shall be Engineering Drawing (Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy etc.
RRB ALP CBT 2 Syllabus for Part B
(A) Part-B is only a qualifying test in nature and shall have questions from the various trade syllabi as prescribed by Directorate General of Training (DGT). This section is crucial for those who qualify in Part A, as it verifies the technical proficiency of applicants in their chosen trade. The questions in Part B are based on the trade syllabus prescribed by the Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

RRB ALP Exam Pattern 2025
Candidates appearing for the RRB ALP Recruitment must be familiar with the exam pattern for each stage of the selection process. By knowing the RRB ALP exam pattern candidates can understand the type of questions, topic-wise weightage and marking scheme. RRB ALP CBT 1 Exam Pattern
The RRB ALP CBT I exam will be an objective-type test, which will only be qualifying in nature. The detailed exam pattern for the same is given below.

RRB ALP CBT 2 Exam Pattern

- The Second Stage CBT will consist of two sections: Part A and Part B.
- Part B will be of qualifying nature only whereas the marks of Part A will decide the progress of the candidates to the next stages of the selection process.
- The minimum qualifying marks for part B are 35% for all candidates irrespective of the category.
- In Part -A, Minimum pass percentage for eligibility: UR & EWS - 40%, OBC (NCL) - 30%, SC - 30%, ST - 25%.
- 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question shall be deducted for each wrong answer.
- There will be sectional timing in the RRB ALP CBT II examination.

Candidates appearing for RRB ALP CBT-2 must choose a relevant trade for Part B based on their engineering qualification. RRB ALP Exam Pattern For CBAT
The Computer Based Aptitude Test will be conducted only for the post of RRB Assistant Loco Pilot. Candidates must keep in mind the following about RRB ALP CBAT
- Minimum Qualifying Marks for this stage are 42 marks in each of the test batteries, irrespective of the category.
- Candidates equal to 8 times the number of ALP vacancies for each of the categories shall be shortlisted for this stage depending on their performance in CBT II.
- Candidates will have to qualify in each of the test battery of Computer Based AT.
- The medium of questions for the CBAT will be English and Hindi.
- There will be no negative marking.
- The merit list for RRB ALP will be prepared only from amongst the candidates who qualify the CBAT stage.
- To prepare the merit list 70% weightage will be allotted to the marks obtained in Part A of the second stage of CBT and 30% weightage will be for the marks obtained in CBAT.
