Given:

Initial distance between thief and policeman = 150 m

Speed of thief = 13 km/h

Speed of policeman = 14 km/h

Time of running = 6 minutes

Formula used:

Distance = Speed × Time

Calculation:

Convert speeds to meters per minute:

Speed of thief = 13 × (1000/60) m/min = 216.67 m/min

Speed of policeman = 14 × (1000/60) m/min = 233.33 m/min

Distance covered by thief in 6 minutes = 216.67 × 6 = 1300 m

Distance covered by policeman in 6 minutes = 233.33 × 6 = 1400 m

Initial distance between them = 150 m

Distance gained by policeman = 1400 - 1300 = 100 m

Distance between them after 6 minutes = 150 - 100 = 50 m

∴ The correct answer is option (3).
