Total cost = 6000, profit = 20%
⇒ Selling price = 6000 × 1.2 = 7200
Let M's saree cost = x,
then R's saree cost = x + 250
2x + 250 = 7200
⇒ 2x = 6950
⇒ x = Rs. 3475
∴ M buys the saree at Rs. 3475
