Question
Download Solution PDFHow many control springs are provided in Power Factor Meter?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFThe correct option is 4
Concept:
- Power factor meter consists of a fixed coil which acts as the current coil
- This coil split up into two parts and carries the current of the circuit under test
- Therefore, the magnetic field produced by this coil is proportional to the main current
- Two identical pressure coils A and B are pivoted on a spindle as shown constitute the moving system
- Pressure coil A is non-inductive resistance R connected in series with it, and coil B has a highly inductive choke coil L connected in series with it
- These two coils are connected across the voltage of the circuit
- These two pressure coils have the same dimensions and the same number of turns
- There is no requirement of the controlling system because at equilibrium there exist two opposite forces which balance the movement of the pointer without any requirement of controlling force
- As there is no need for controlling torque, it doesn't have any control springs
