Explanation:
- The pressure cooker is based on the principle that the boiling of water increases with the increase in pressure, in a pressure cooker pressure is created by boiling a liquid, such as water or broth, inside the closed pressurized container.
- When we give heat to the pressure cooker then due to an increase in temperature the steam generated in the vessel.
- Due to this generated steam, the pressure inside the vessel increases.
- As the pressure rises, the boiling point at which water is converted into steam also rises above the normal 100⁰C boiling point.
- Hence the higher the pressure, the shorter the cooking time because of an increase in the boiling point of a liquid.
- From this, we can see that as we increase pressure, the boiling point of water will also increase.
