Factors Influencing UPSC Result 2025

The final UPSC Result 2025 will be influenced by various factors that determine the final outcome for the candidates. These factors include:

  1. Performance in Preliminary Examination: The preliminary examination acts as the first hurdle in the UPSC selection process. The result of the preliminary examination determines the candidates who qualify for the next stage, i.e., the mains examination. This time, a total of 14161 candidates will be writing the Mains.
  2. Score in Mains Examination: The mains examination holds significant weightage in the final selection process. The marks obtained in the mains examination, along with the performance in the interview stage, are considered for the final selection of candidates.
  3. Cut-off Marks: The UPSC sets minimum cut-off marks for each stage of the examination. Only candidates who score above the UPSC Prelims cut off 2025 category wise are eligible for the subsequent stages. How to Calculate UPSC IAS Prelims Marks?

  • Candidates can add +2 Marks for every right answer.

  • The Prelims Paper II CSAT has 80 questions for 200 marks.
  • Each question will be awarded +2.5 marks.

Utilize the UPSC Marks Calculator and UPSC Negative Marking Calculator to estimate your Prelims marks!

How to Challenge UPSC Result 2025?

The UPSC result declared by the Commission is considered final and cannot be challenged. UPSC follows a rigorous selection process consisting of preliminary, main and interview rounds to evaluate candidates on various parameters. After evaluating candidates anonymously, UPSC declares the final merit list. Due to the exhaustive nature of the selection process, there is no provision for candidates to raise any objections against the final result or demand re-evaluation.

While candidates can submit an application for re-evaluation of their answer sheets post the preliminary exam, the marks awarded by UPSC examiners in the Mains exam and interview are considered final. The Commission maintains the highest standards of transparency and integrity in the selection process. Hence, it does not entertain any requests challenging the final outcome or allocation of service. Candidates can only apply for inspection of their evaluated answer books within 30 days of declaration of result. However, this may or may not alter the final selection or merit list.

What After the UPSC CSE Prelims Result 2025 is Out?

After the UPSC Prelims Result 2025 is declared, shortlisted candidates will be appearing for the IAS Mains Exam scheduled from 22 August, 2025 onwards. Subsequently, candidates who clear the Mains are then called for the Interview/Personality Test round. After the declaration of the final UPSC Result, successful candidates will be recommended for various services based on their All India Rank (AIR), preference and category. Subsequently, shortlisted candidates will receive joining letters for the Foundation Course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie. This four-month course includes academic sessions, physical training, and cultural activities to foster camaraderie among officers from various services.

Post this, IAS Officers continue with Phase I training, which encompasses the 'Bharat Darshan' study tour and classroom modules. This is followed by a year-long district training, providing hands-on administrative experience. The training culminates with Phase II and a stint as Assistant Secretaries in central ministries. Upon completion, officers are posted to their respective cadres to commence their Civil Service careers.
