KCET Eligibility Criteria 2025: Know Age Limit, Academic Qualification & More!

The KCET Eligibility Criteria for the year 2025 are available on the information brochure of KCET 2025. The candidates should go through the KCET Eligibility to know whether they are eligible for their desired course or not. The information brochure lists the general eligibility for all the candidates and the academic eligibility for each course. Any candidate who is found to not qualify for the KCET Eligibility Criteria will not be allowed for further procedures in the KCET admission process.

• The KCET provides admission to various Undergraduate Programmes. Therefore all the candidates are required to complete their pre-degree examinations. Check the KCET Counselling process here.
• The candidates who do not qualify for any of the KCET Eligibility Clause Codes will not be eligible for admission to professional courses.
• The candidates should make sure they are eligible for a course before selecting it for admission. Also fill the KCET Application Form carefully.

KCET Eligibility Criteria 2025

The KCET is conducted to select candidates for the First Semester of full-time professional courses for Government share of seats and the second semester of certain courses in Government, University, Private-Aided, or Private Un-Aided Professional Educational Institutions in the State of Karnataka. The eligibility criteria for KCET consist of educational qualifications, nationality, domicile, etc. 

Educational Qualifications

The educational qualifications that are required to be eligible for each course provided by the KCET are as follows. To get admission to the Architecture courses the candidate must qualify for the NATA exam and the candidates who wish to get admitted to Medical or Dental or Ayurveda or Unani or

Homoeopathy courses should clear the UG NEET exam. There are no separate criteria for the KCET Eligibility for Medical.

Architecture Course (B.Arch)

• Passed the 12th or equivalent examination with the subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. OR 
• Passed 10+3 Diploma scheme exam with Mathematics as a compulsory subject. OR
• Appearing the above-mentioned exams and will be able to submit the results with the completion of the admission process.

Engineering / Technology Courses (B.E. / B.Tech)

• Passed the 12th or equivalent examination with English as one of the languages and Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Electronics/ Computer.

Farm Science Courses

• Passed in 12th or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology as optional subjects.

Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.)

• Passed in 12th or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects. 
• The merit will be prepared based on the 50% marks secured in CET and 50% marks scored in the practical test for the B.V.Sc & AH candidates. 

B-Pharma

• Passed in 12th or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. OR
• Passed a Pharmacy Examination Diploma from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India. 

2nd Year B-Pharma 

• Passed a Pharmacy Examination Diploma from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India.

Pharma-D

• Passed in 12th or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. 
• Passed a Pharmacy Examination Diploma from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India.

Naturopathy & Yoga

• Passed in Q.E. with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study.

Age Limit Criteria

The KCET does not specify any age limits for the candidates to apply for the admission process. But the minimum age of the candidate is required to be 17 for the candidates to be eligible for different courses provided.

Number of Attempts

There is no specific number of attempts listed by the authorities for the eligibility of the candidates. But the candidates who have already cleared the examination in the previous years and have rejected the seat they got, will not be considered eligible for the admission process. The candidates can select another discipline if needed for this year’s KCET exam.

Aggregate Marks in Qualifying Examination

The candidate should have a minimum of certain aggregate marks in their qualifying examination to be eligible for the KCET. The aggregate marks for all the courses are not released. The aggregate marks needed for courses as per the information brochure are as follows.

KCET 2025 Nationality Eligibility Criteria

The Nationality criteria for all Indian Students to get admission for the Government Seats are as follows. The KCET Eligibility for Other State Students is also as follows:

• The candidates should have studied in the state of Karnataka for at least seven academic years. This education can be from 1st standard to 12th standard/ 2nd PUC. They must also have passed their 10th class and 12th class examination from Karnataka itself. OR
• Either of the candidates’ parents should have studied in the state of Karnataka for at least seven years. The candidate should have passed either their Pre-University Exam or 11th and 12th standard exam from an institution recognized by the State Government of Karnataka. OR
• A candidate who has studied their 1st and 2nd PUC or 11th and 12th standard in Karnataka and whose parent is defence personnel who has worked continuously in the state of Karnataka for at least one year during the candidate's period of study. 
• The candidate whose parent is a serving or retired employee in Central Armed Police Force Service in the country and has mentioned his/her/their hometown as Karnataka. The candidate should have completed their qualifying examination from a recognized University or Board located in India. (The documents proving the parents’ domicile from the Record Office of the CAPF Unit where the parents’ service record is maintained should be submitted).

KCET Eligibility Criteria for Foreign/NRI Students

The candidates applying for the KCET should be a citizen of India. The seats are not allowed for any other candidates.

KCET 2025 Reservation

As per the Government Rules and the CET 2006 Admission Rules, a certain number of seats are reserved for a certain category of students. The reservation for the KCET 2025 for each category is as follows. Apart from the categories mentioned below, there are special category students who are given certain reservations. But these reservations are subject to change according to each course, college, etc. The special categories mentioned in the information brochure are NCC, Sports, Defence, Ex-Defence, Physically Disabled, Anglo-Indians, Central Armed Police Force, and Ex-Central Armed Police Force.

Reserved Category Candidates

Candidates belonging to the SC/ ST/ OBC categories are eligible for this reservation. To be eligible for this reservation the candidates should submit their Caste Certificate or Caste Income Certificate issued by the concerned Jurisdictional Tahsildar. The SC/ ST/ Category - I candidates should also submit an Income Certificate in the prescribed format provided in the information brochure. Also, to get this reservation the candidates should be of Karnataka origin and should claim eligibility for Government Seats according to the eligibility clause codes (a), (b), (f), (h), (j), (k), (l) and (o) provided in the information brochure.

Rural Candidates

The candidates who have completed their 10 years of studies from 1st standard to 10th standard in educational institutions situated in the rural areas of Karnataka as per the Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964 or Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976 are eligible for the 15% of Government Seats. 

Kannada Medium Candidates

The candidates who have studied their 1st standard to 10th standard in the Kannada Medium are eligible for 5% of the Government Seats. 

Ward of Jammu & Kashmiri Migrants

The wards of Jammu & Kashmiri Migrants are eligible for the reservation. One seat in all the Government Medical and Dental Colleges and One seat each in Engineering Colleges, irrespective of the course, are reserved for these candidates. The candidates are required to satisfy the eligibility clause code (m) as provided in the information brochure.

Article 371(J) Kalyana Karnataka (Hyderabad Karnataka)

The candidates from the Hyderabad-Karnataka region referred to as the Local area are eligible for certain reservations. In every course in any regional university or educational institution, 70% of seats are reserved for local persons. These candidates also have 8% reserved seats in every course provided in state-wide universities or educational institutions. The eligible candidates are required to submit the relevant documents to support this claim.

Documents Required for KCET 2025

Similar to the Eligibility Clause Code for KCET 2021, this year also the clause codes are provided in the information brochure. The candidates should go through each of them carefully and read the given instructions properly. The candidates are required to submit the following documents. Some of them do not apply to every candidate, therefore make sure to check your eligibility and select the documents accordingly. 

• SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card
• 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate,
• Candidate’s Study Certificate countersigned by BEO / DDPU; (7 years of study in Karnataka including 10th or 12th)
• Relevant documents for reservation if the candidates are claiming any reservation.

KCET Eligibility Criteria - Important Changes

• The annual income limit for claiming reservation benefits has been enhanced from `6.00 Lakhs to `8.0’ Lakhs per annum by the Government. Such candidates are eligible to claim the benefit of reservation under 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B categories.
• 5% of the seats in each college and in each course will be reserved as Supernumerary Quota (SNQ) in all Engineering Colleges. This quota is over and above the seat matrix issued by the Government. The tuition fee prescribed by the Government in that particular college will be waived off. The candidate has to pay University / other fees only. This Supernumerary quota is not available for Architecture Course. 

KCET Eligibility Criteria For Droppers

The eligibility criteria for the droppers are the same as the eligibility criteria for the first-time candidates. Therefore, the droppers too can follow the mentioned eligibility criteria.
