Question
Download Solution PDFIf Δ ABC~Δ FDE such that AB = 9 cm, AC = 11 cm, DF = 16 cm and DE = 12 cm, then the length of BC is:
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
AB = 9 cm, AC = 11 cm, DF = 16 cm and DE = 12 cm
Concept used:
When two triangles are similar, their corresponding angles are equal and their corresponding sides are proportional.
Calculation:
As ΔABC ~ ΔFDE
So, AB/DF = BC/DE = AC/FE
Now,
AB/DF = BC/DE
⇒ 9/16 = BC/12
⇒ BC = (9 × 12)/16
⇒ BC = 27/4
⇒ BC = \(6\frac{3}{4}\) cm
∴ The length of BC is \(6\frac{3}{4}\).
