- Strike with a meteorite: these are coming from extraterrestrial sources
- Other causes of the tsunami are atmospheric causes, manmade sources, etc. which are not so effective and common
- In 70% of cases, the sudden motion of the seafloor is caused due to the deep sea earthquake occurring due to a number of factors
