Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
CP of B is 25% more than CP of A
Article A marked up by 30%, sold at 10% discount
Article B marked up by 20%, sold at 5% discount
Selling price of A is ₹51 less than B
Formula used:
Marked Price = CP × (1 + markup%)
Selling Price = MP × (1 - discount%)
Calculations:
Let CP of A = ₹x
⇒ CP of B = x + 25% of x = 1.25x
SP of A = x × 1.3 × 0.9 = x × 1.17
SP of B = 1.25x × 1.2 × 0.95 = 1.425x
SP of B - SP of A = ₹51
⇒ 1.425x - 1.17x = 51
⇒ 0.255x = 51
⇒ x = 200
⇒ CP of B = 1.25x = 1.25 × 200 = ₹250
∴ The correct answer is ₹250
